An Innovative Evening with Parmigiano Reggiano at Magpie

As we plan our public relations programme for Parmigiano Reggiano, one of the challenges is helping media to think about the product in new ways. As a cheese thats been produced the same way for more than 900 years, one might think there isnt anything new to share about it, but our goal is to prove this wrong.

That's why we recently partnered with Magpie Restaurant and Head Chef Sebastian Merry to design a bespoke menu with every dish featuring Parmigiano Reggiano. Magpie is a modern British restaurant tucked behind Regent Street. It was opened in 2017 by the team behind Hackney’s Pidgin, and their dishes focus on great ingredients combined to make something that is above all delicious but that also contains some element of surprise.

The six-course dinner was shared with 30 journalists from prominent UK publications who joined us on a journey through the world and taste of Parmigiano Reggiano.

The evening first began with a tasting of three different ages of Parmesan led by a representative from the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium. Then guests discovered the extreme versatility of the cheese, seeing it used in a variety of ways, from traditional shavings to panna cotta and even frosting.

We loved seeing attendees excited about the impressive dishes, and were sure theyll be dreaming about Parmesan for a very long time.
